Toy Story in Space Walkthrough

As with all of the other Play Sets to start Toy Story in Space place your Toy Story Play Set Piece on the Infinity Base, you must keep it on there the entire time you're playing in the Play Set.

The only characters that you can use in the Play Set are Woody, Jessie and Buzz Lightyear.

The missions in this Play Set often have a non-obvious set of requirements before they are able to be started so I will do my best to make it clear exactly what is needed to take part in a particular mission.

Power the Tower
Rewards: 25 100
"Protect the Aliens' city from volcanic debris by activating the Shield Generator."

Straight into the game we go, head forwards up the stepped platform to a small jump through a gem, that's the currency of choice for the Toy Story Play Set by the way, jump and grab onto the ledge through another gem and up to the tower. Run over to one of the batteries in front of the tower, pick it up and take it over to the battery compartment at the base of the tower where you'll want to throw or drop it so that it moves into place.

With both batteries in place the tower will fully open up, jump onto the yellow elevator platform to the sides of the batteries and then into another elevator in the middle of the tower. It'll take you to the very top where you can press the big red Infinity Button to switch on the shield and complete the mission.

The next mission is with Hamm down at the base of the tower, either take the lift back down or just jump off the edge.

Build-A-Lot
Rewards: 100 100 Delivery Platform
"Create a building lot for Rex by constructing a level area with floor pads."

Go into the Mission Log as the game asks and activate the compass for the mission, that'll get the pieces beamed down. First off you'll be needing to pick up the battery so head off to the right where it's found right in the middle of all of the pieces of platform. Pick it up and put it into the battery compartment just next to it.

Jump up the platforms that form, you'll need to use a double jump to make it up some of the gaps, and stand on the button at the top. Completing the mission will unlock the "Delivery Platform" toy.

Platform Purchase
Rewards: 25 50
"Purchase the Star Command Delivery Platform from the Toy Store."

Talk to Hamm again to get this one going, all you have to do is spend the 25 Gems to buy the Delivery Platform from the Toy Store. If you don't know which button to press to get there you can walk over to the Play Set Piece behind Hamm and Rex to get a prompt for it.

Volcano Vanish
Rewards: 50 100
"Find the Alien that was lost during the volcanic eruption."

Speak to the little Alien next to Rex, he wants you to go find his friend (before you leave you might want to pick up the mission from the other Alien to do at the same time). Follow the compass to the right, double jump and grab onto the ledges sticking out of the wall then jump again to reach the second ledge. Slide along it to the left and then jump up onto the top. The Alien you're looking for is directly ahead of you with a large arrow pointing at his head.

Jump onto the small floating platform that he's standing on, pick him up and take him back to the Alien who started the mission.

Clothing Store Crate Crash
Rewards: 50 100 Clothing Store
"Break all of the Clothing Store supply crates."
Requirements: Volcano Vanish

The Mechanic Alien that you just rescued has a mission for you, go to the right where several crates have appeared on the platform that you created earlier. Smash all five crates to finish the mission and unlock the "Clothing Store" in the Toy Store.

Crystal Smash and Bash
Rewards: 25 50
"Break clusters of blue crystals that are near the city."
Requirements: Volcano Vanish

The nearest crystals are up on the ridge above you, jump up the ledges on the wall to the right to reach them. Simply attack three of the purple crystal clusters up there to complete the mission.

Play Catch
Rewards: 25 50
"Throw the ball to the Alien. He's open!"
Requirements: Clothing Store Crate Crash

An Alien near the tower wants to play catch with you, open up the Packs and Tools menu as the game asks and select the "Softball" tool. Turn to face the Alien and throw the ball at him using the throw button.

If you see him with his baseball glove out again you can throw another ball at him to get some free Gems.

Dress Up
Rewards: 100 100
"Change an Alien by throwing him into the Clothing Store."
Requirements: Clothing Store Crate Crash or Volcano Vanish+60s

Rex now wants you to dress the little Alien guys up, go buy the Clothing Store from the Toy Store (unlocked through the Clothing Store Crate Crash mission, costs 150 Gems). At this stage you don't have much choice in where to place it, but you can rotate it if you like. Place the building down and then pick up an Alien to throw through the orange revolving doors once it's finished being built.

Make any changes you like, you just have to do at least one to get the mission complete.

Capsule Collection
Rewards: 25 50
"Collect capsules that are lying around the city."
Requirements: Dress Up

Another Alien by the tower now wants you to go find some capsules, this isn't so much a mission as a direction to pick up all the capsules you see. You need to pick up three of them to complete this mission, there's plenty around so it shouldn't be too much of a challenge.

The Crystal Cavern
Rewards: 50 100
"Find the cave that contains lots of crystals."
Requirements: Volcano Vanish

Hamm has another mission for you. Head up the ledges on the left side of town, follow the water up until you reach a larger open section where there's a taller waterfall and some ledges on the right to jump up. Head into the cave at the top to find the cave that contains lots of crystals and finish the mission. Feel free to smash them all up, to get the ones on the roof you'll probably need to use your Pixar Ball or Softball tools.

Battery Needs
Rewards: 100 100
"Insert a battery into the Construct-O-Lot and then press the button on top."
Requirements: Clothing Store built

After the construction on the Clothing Store has completed Slinky should teleport down and be able to give you this mission. The battery is over to the left of the tower, grab it and take it to the Construct-O-Lot just off the edge. Climb back up and then up the ledges next to the tiny waterfall, from there you should be able to jump onto the platforms floating in the air to get up to the top of the Construct-O-Lot and press the button.

That'll unlock plenty of new missions to go do.

Hospital Crate Crash
Rewards: 50 100 Hospital
"Break all of the Hospital supply crates."
Requirements: Battery Needs

Standing on the floor pad you just built is another Mechanic Alien with this mission, the crates you're looking for are dotted around the area, perfect for picking up other missions at the same time.

The first crate is up on the back of the tower, stand on the elevator platform at the back to be taken up to it. Next jump onto the small platform floating in the air to get over to the area up behind the tower, to climb the ledges to the top you'll need to do a side jump halfway up. Ignore the compass and instead go further into the cave, smash the crystal wall in to find a third crate inside. The fourth one is back outside just down the ledge, the fifth on a layer lower. This unlocks the "Hospital" in the Toy Store for 400 Gems.

New Hat Please
Rewards: 50 100
"Customize the Alien with a cowboy hat like Woody's."
Requirements: Dress Up

An Alien near the tower will give you this mission, he wants a Cowboy Hat which you'll first need to have found in a Red Capsule. The one you're looking for is in the cave behind the Play Set Piece store icon, smash through the crystal wall to get in - if it's not there then you may have already picked it up. Once you've got it pick the Alien up and throw him into the Clothing Store, cycle round to the "Woody Hat" hair, put it on him and exit the store to complete the mission.

Alien Medicine
Rewards: 200 200
"Help the Alien by building a hospital and taking him there for medical attention."
Requirements: Battery Needs

After you built the second platform an Alien crashed into a wall up to the left of town, get up there and talk to the Alien next to him. You'll need to build the Hospital if you haven't yet (to unlock it you must smash some crates for a Mechanic Alien in the "Hospital Crate Crash" mission). Pick up the injured Alien and throw him into the completed Hospital to save him.

Combat Crate Crash
Rewards: 50 100 Combat Simulator
"Break all of the Combat Simulator supply crates."
Requirements: Battery Needs

Once you've smashed the Hospital crates this mission opens up with a Mechanic Alien near the tower, he looks like the one that went missing earlier. The first crate is in the middle of the floor pads near the teleporter, number two is down below the first floor pad, jump off the edge to your right to get down there (or just use the teleporter next to you). The third is around the other side of the rocky formation next to you, the fourth in a small hole with water running out of it and the fifth is over to the left under the second floor pad.

That unlocks the "Combat Simulator" in the Toy Store for 200 Gems. The Combat Simulator is a building that is vital to completing the storyline of the game.

You Floor Me
Rewards: 100 100
"Construct a third building lot by assembling the floor pads."
Requirements: Battery Needs

Slinky has another floor pad for you to build, go down to the area south of the existing pads to where you can see an assortment of broken up parts and a battery compartment. Up on a ledge further south you should be able to spot the battery, it's next to a waterfall. Jump up there and grab it to throw it into the compartment. Start going up the platforms that have started floating next to the battery compartment, go up onto the rocky platform behind and then again onto some more platforms that are moving around. Jump to a stationary set of platforms leading up to the top to hit the button there.

Provided you've done the Crystal Cavern mission, building this third lot will set off some rumbling and open up a new area that Hamm will run off to explore.

Changing Walls
Rewards: 50 100
"Customize the tower with any Wall customization."
Requirements: Battery Needs and Dress Up

Slinky wants you to go and customise the tower, it's fairly simple to do you just walk over to the tower and get close enough that the Customise Building prompt appears. Change the colour of the Star Command Wall or use an entirely different Wall texture to complete the mission.

Hatchery Crate Crash
Rewards: 50 100 Hatchery
"Break all of the Hatchery supply crates."
Requirements: Combat Crate Crash or Hospital Crate Crash

Another set of crates to smash open to unlock a building, this mission starts with the same Alien that started the Combat Simulator crate mission. These crates are a little further away from town in the south-east direction. Go towards the first and you'll see all the others scattered about the platforms behind it, follow them along smashing them as you go. This unlocks the "Hatchery" for 375 Gems in the Toy Store.

Paint the Town New
Rewards: 100 100
"Change the wall of any building in town that you would like."
Requirements: Dress Up

Rex would like you to redecorate a building for him, walk over to the Clothing Store (or any building you've built), hit the Customise Building button and change the Wall setting to a different design (the number of designs you've got available is dependant on how many of the Red Capsules containing designs you've found).

Crystallize My Cranium
Rewards: 50 50
"Find the capsule that contains the crystal hat piece and then put it on an alien."
Requirements: New Hat Please

An Alien near the tower will ask you to do this mission, if you haven't already happened to pick up the Red Capsule containing the "Gem Hat" then you'll be able to find it up on the ledges behind the tower, follow the compass over to a little rocket building at the back with the capsule sitting out front. Throw the Alien into the Clothing Store and equip the "Gem Hat".

Color Required
Rewards: 50 100

Alien Taxi
Rewards: 50 100
"Take the Alien to where he needs to go."
Requirements: Take Me There

This next one is found in town, pick him up and take him east (if you've built it the Teleporter Dish has a location that takes you right next to it), drop him off near the spore plants to finish up.

Please Bug Me
Rewards: 50 100
"Dress the Alien up in a bug costume."
Requirements: Crystallize My Cranium and Play Catch

Another Alien wants to dress up, if you don't have the required "Twitch Cap" Red Capsule yet follow the compass up the waterfall on the left side of town, further left past the large pool at the top and then smash down into a small cavern through the crystal barrier. Dino-myte Dresser

More dressing up, this one requires two things, if you don't have the Capsules head off to the right, you'll see one capsule up on a platform behind two rocket buildings and the other lower down to the right. Jump over to the lower one "Rex Cap" and then make your way up the platforms and ledges to your left to grab the second "Rex Outfit". With both of those unlocked go and pick up the Alien to throw into the Clothing Store. Equip both the Rex Cap hair and the Rex Outfit body to dress him up fully.

Decoration Crate Crash
Rewards: 50 100 Decoration Center
"Break all of the Decoration Center supply crates."

As you might expect that unlocks the "Decoration Center" which costs 450 Gems from the Toy Store.

Research Station Crate Crash
Rewards: 100 100 Research Station
"Break all of the Research Station supply crates."
Requirements: 4 out of Combat Crate Crash, Hospital Crate Crash, Hatchery Crate Crash, Decoration Crate Crash, and Teleporter Dish Crate Crash

These crates are found directly to the south of the town, getting over there however requires the Jetpack, Bullseye or the Teleporter Dish building. If you use the Teleporter then switch the building to the south teleporter and ahead of you you should find the first of the five crates up on the ledge. The second is through the cave on the left side, go up the ledge to reach it. Third is across the area, cross the floating platforms and go through a waterfall cave. Once you've got that head back towards the teleporter and drop off the right side, the fourth is on some platforms leading away towards town and the fifth is closer to town again, if you don't have the Jetpack you'll need to aim a Pixar Ball at it from the last platform as you can't quite make the final jump. Or just ride Bullseye over the gaps.

Save Your Feet, Buy a Teleporter
Rewards: 200 100
"Purchase and build the Teleporter Building."
Requirements: 3 out of Combat Crate Crash, Hospital Crate Crash, Hatchery Crate Crash, and Decoration Crate Crash

Rex has another building in mind now, if you haven't done so yet you'll have to go smashing crates for the Mechanic Aliens until you get to Teleporter Dish Crate Crash. If you have then purchase and place the Teleporter Dish wherever you like. It is quite handy for getting around the area.

Teleporter Dish Crate Crash
Rewards: 50 100 Teleporter Dish
"Break all of the Teleporter Building supply crates."
Requirements: Save Your Feet, Buy a Teleporter

The crates for the Teleporter Building are found to the north-east of town up on the ledges there, the first three are simple enough to reach, just smash them. The fourth one is on a platform up high, you can just throw a ball at it from the ground but you'll need to get up there anyway for the fifth, just to the right are some ledges you can shimmy along and jump up until you get into position above the fourth crate, drop down onto it and go into the cave behind where the fifth crate is also found. That unlocks for 1000 Gems the "Teleporter Dish" in the Toy Store.

Final Floor
Rewards: 100 100
"Construct the fourth building lot."
Requirements: You Floor Me and 3 buildings built

Slinky has the last floor pad to build, go south-east and you should easily find the battery to put into the compartment next to it. Start going up the platforms that have begun floating and jump backwards along the moving ones, go up to the next layer of moving platforms and jump over the stationary platforms until you get around to the ramp leading further up. At the top hit the button to build the final three building slots.

Spore Samples
Rewards: Gems50 Sparks3

In the tunnel to the Volcano is another Alien who wants you to smash open spore plants for him, there aren't many nearby so just carry on through the cave to find more.

Hammy Rendezvous
Rewards: Gems200 Sparks100
"Lend assistance to Hamm by going to the Goo Valley."
Requirements: You Floor Me and The Crystal Cavern

Follow Hamm down the newly formed passageway to the Volcano and this mission will popup. Make your way through the cave and up the ledges to meet up with Hamm. Smash through the crystal barrier at the end to get outside.

The Goo Side of the Moon
Rewards: Gems50 Sparks100
"Follow Hamm to the erupting Volcano."
Requirements: Hammy Rendezvous

Follow Hamm down to the purple goo/water and then across, you won't drown if you go in this water but you will shrink temporarily. Keep on following Hamm across some green goo, this stuff will make you bigger allowing you to get up the ledge that Hamm flies up. Get over to Hamm again and follow him down to a tree with glowing green fruit, pick a piece up and throw it at the orange circular creature by the ledge that Hamm is now standing on, that'll enlarge the creature and give you a platform to use to jump up and reach Hamm.

Still not done, keep following Hamm over to another high ledge, to the left is one of those orange creatures, pick it up and place it at the bottom of the ledge then grab a green goo fruit from a nearby tree (hit it to knock some out) and throw it at the creature to create a platform to get up to Hamm. Again keep on following Hamm across some platforms until he stops on another high ledge, the orange platform is over to the left (you might like to use a purple fruit on it to make it easier to carry), place it at the bottom of the ledge and use to jump up.

For the next ledge you'll need to go to the left once Hamm goes up it, jump over the purple river and then over to the yellow ledges on the far side to start shimmying up to the platform to your right where you can see another of those orange creatures. Pick it up and throw it down to the tree below, jump down and throw it across the river to just below Hamm while picking up a green fruit from the tree. Once it's in position throw the fruit at the platform and jump up to Hamm.

Jump onto the ledges on the wall and start shimmying and jumping along to the right and then after talking to Hamm up further to the top and finally finish the mission.

Planetary Plumber
Rewards: Gems200 Sparks700 Buzz Lightyear's Jetpack
"Plug the Goo Volcano's flow."
Requirements: The Goo Side of the Moon

Jump over to the right and make your way to a ledge circling a rock formation, shimmy left up it through some gems, on top is a pillar made of crystal you can smash. After that jump to the right and you'll find a section you need to Wall Jump to get up, the help capsule should tell you how but you basically just jump at a special gap in a wall and keep jumping up off it until you get to the top. At the top is a second pillar to smash.

Jump forwards and grab onto the ledges on the wall ahead of you, shimmy left past the green waterfall and across to the left where at the top is the third and final pillar. Now just jump down the platforms in a shortcut back to the exit where Hamm is waiting for you. This unlocks the "Buzz Lightyear's Jetpack" for 800 Gems in the Toy Store.

On your way back to town you'll see a few more missions unlocked in the Goo Valley area.

Once you've built the Combat Simulator use the teleport pad at the front of it. Ahead of you is a pair of small elevators leading to a large one to take you down to the next mission.

Star Command Blaster Qualification
Rewards: Gems250 Sparks100 Star Command Blaster
"Throw Pixar Balls at targets to qualify for the Star Command Blaster."
Requirements: Enter the Simulator

Go through the door behind the holograhpic Emperor Zurg and use the teleporter. Wait until the three Zurgbots appear before throwing a Pixar Ball at each of them, the platform will then move and allow you to get over to where they were. Follow the path on behind them hitting the Zurgbots as they appear, at the top aim and throw at the ones over the gap. Then go left through the now opened pathway and now aim and fire at the two Zurgbots on the platforms higher up.

Keep on following the path forwards and you'll see a whole load of Zurgbots moving around ahead of you, you only need to hit five of them so it shouldn't be too difficult even with the boxes blocking a lot of your throws. Once you've done that walk along the path and into the teleporter to get back to the start room.

That unlocks the "Star Command Blaster" in the Toy Store for 375 Gems. You can't actually go into the Store from inside the Combat Simulator so you'll have to exit, buy the Blaster, pick it up from the dropoff and then return to carry on with the missions in here.

Simulation 1: No Chance
Rewards: Gems500 Sparks500
"Complete Simulation 1 by defeating the Zurgbots and reaching the warp pad."
Requirements: Star Command Blaster

Go through the door that opens up to the left of Zurg and teleport to the first simulation fight. Now you don't have to use the Blaster to attack enemies, you can use your regular attacks too (the jump and smash down attack is helpful to stop them from hitting you), just keep following the path and attacking the Zurgbots until you reach the end, there's not much to this except for the Infinity buttons you need to step on to open up parts of the path. After deating a few red Zurgbots there's a grind rail to jump on and ride down to the next section.

The next part requires you to hit another Infinity button and then climb a glowing pole to continue on. For the high up red Zurgbots remember that you can move around while aiming so as to avoid the shots they're firing at you. At the last section there's a couple of robot spawners that will create lots and lots of Zurgbots for you to destroy, once you've smashed them all up as well as the two red ones you can use the teleporter to finish.

Simulation 2: If You Dare
Rewards: Gems500 Sparks500
"Complete Simulation 2 by defeating the Zurgbots and reaching the warp pad."
Requirements: Simulation 1: No Chance

The second door opens up to your left. This time there's also a load of smaller Zurgbots that try to swarm you, just keep punching them until they blow up like all the other bots.

Simulation 3: Inevitable Destruction
Rewards: Gems500 Sparks500
"Complete Simulation 3 by defeating the Zurgbots and reaching the warp pad."
Requirements: Simulation 2: If You Dare and another mission

If it hasn't automatically appeared go outside and complete any random mission you like and return, it should now be active. Once you've triggered the start of this mission head through the third left door to begin. This one adds in small red Zurgbots that have a rapid fire attack.

Simulation 4: Unfathomable
Rewards: Gems750 Sparks500
"Complete Simulation 4 by defeating the Zurgbots and reaching the warp pad."
Requirements: Combat Simulation 3: Inevitable Destruction and Planetary Plumber

To the right is a door to go in, this leads to a simulation now with extra large red Zurgbots, they fire a large ball of energy towards you that you should try to avoid. Otherwise they just take a few more hits to defeat than the regular sized ones. Don't think the crates will protect you from their shots either, the edges of the ball of energy go right through. Finishing this mission unlocks the "Buzz Lightyear Alien" toy in the Toy Store.

Simulation 5: Ultimate Downfall
Rewards: Gems750 Sparks500
"Complete Simulation 5 by defeating the Zurgbots and reaching the warp pad."
Requirements: Simulation 4: Unfathomable

This mission's new enemy is a larger version of the purple Zurgbots, these have a large ground pound attack that will stun you if you get hit by it. Towards the end of the mission you'll also encounter a black Zurgbot that fires purple goo to shrink you, as well as creating more regular sized bots to attack you. Keep on shooting at it while trying to avoid the goo. They'll also occasionally use green goo to make their minions bigger but it's not something that will happen very often.

Build the Hatchery for the next set of missions.

Egg Spotted!
Rewards: Gems50 Sparks100
"Find an egg and take it to the Hatchery Building."
Requirements: Hatchery

The egg that it points you towards is up to the east of the town near a rocket building. Pick it up and take it back to the Hatchery through the nearby teleporter (or just walk). Drop the egg on the marker outside the building and then press the Infinity button on the front to process it. For the rest of the eggs for the Gold Star check the Egg Locations page.
